Week 15 – almost there :)

It was my weigh in this evening and I was pleased to have a 2lb loss, only 1.5lb to go to target now¬†ūüôā

I’d ran out of muesli so had¬†Tesco fat free blueberry¬†yogurt, a banana and 3 semi dried prunes chopped on top (3 sys) with a mug of tea made with semi skimmed milk.

I also had 4 cups of coffee made with skimmed milk throughout the day and did a 3 mile run this morning.

Week 8 weigh in

As I’d¬†not used my hexb¬†yesterday and have been forgetting about using it, today¬†i¬†had some rivita¬†for breakfast as you can have 4 original as a hexb. i¬†had 2 with some low low¬†cheddar¬†and black pepper spread on, plus some more pale and flavorless watermelon and the last greek style yogurt (0.5 syn)

I made the mid- morning round of tea for us all in the office and one of my colleagues had brought in some breakaway bars, they are 5 syns each so i felt it was worth it even though they are tiny it was a nice little chocolate fix.

I didn’t take a pic of my lunch as it was the same as i¬†had last night, the quorn¬†cottage pie (well actually i¬†forgot until i was half way through eating it).

I nipped out to the shops at lunch time (in the car :/ ) as i¬†knew i¬†might not get through the afternoon without¬†getting hungry and as there are quite a few vending machines in our building, i¬†don’t¬†want to risk it, there is nothing remotely¬†healthy in any of them! so i¬†got some semi dried prunes, 80g¬†of these are a hexb, but as i’d¬†already had half of todays allowance¬†on the rivita¬†i¬†just had 40g¬†(i¬†guessed at about 5 prunes as didn’t happen to have any scales on me at work and didn’t¬†have time to count them out to work it out) i also had a banana an afternoon cuppa.

So onto weigh in, Р0.5 lbs , which i was slightly disappointed with as i was aiming to lose the 1.5lb i put on last week, annoying that it was so easy to put on that amount in one week but so difficult to lose the same amount again. Am going to try a superspeed week this week as really need to kick-start this weight loss.

With weigh in out the way and a massive shopping trip done, it was home to cook tonight’s¬†meal, it was late ish and i¬†had lots to do this evening so needed something without too much¬†faffing, we ended up having pasta, with mushrooms, bacon with the fat cut off, broccoli¬† and the rest of the a tub of low low¬†cheddar mixed through.

looks like spring is on it’s way

My energy¬†serge¬†of yesterday¬†had passed and normal service was resumed today, therefore brekkie¬†was eaten on the sofa¬†whilst¬†watching tv. I had a watermelon hiding in the 2nd fridge (ie the garage – especially at this time of year) although i¬†don’t¬†think¬†it was ripe yet as was very pale and tasteless, not impressed. i¬†also had a Muller¬†light greek style, there is only one left so will have to pick something up at the next shopping trip.

As no one had done much shopping, lunch was what was left in the salad drawer chopped up and a cheesy mug shot with some fresh broccoli¬†added, i’d¬†not tried this flavour¬†before and i¬†dont¬†really think it was worth the 3 syns¬†it cost me, i¬†prefer the tomato flavour¬†and they are free. but it was nice to have a change i suppose

I¬† only had an apple to take with me for a snack today so had to drink lots of tea and squash to keep me from getting hungry, well i¬†don’t¬†actually get hungry i¬†just¬†get bored and look for things to occupy my hands with which is usually food.

As i¬†left work on time it was surprising¬†light when i¬†got home so i¬†went for a walk to the local shops to get a few things and it was so nice to be out in the evening in the day light… must mean spring is on its way, which can’t come soon enough as far as im concerned as its so much easier to want to get our running, cycling or walking in the light and warmth.

I also tried for the first time quorn mince and made a cottage pie from the quorn website, it was really nice and i adjusted the recipe to be syn free and added a few extra veggies to help with the 1/3 superfree. Also as my hubby doesnt wat quorn or mash i have loads of it left over, thats lunch sorted for tomorrow and another meal too.

As i’d¬†only had 3.5 syns today and also my mum had been over and made me some jelly (thanks mum!) i¬†made strawberry and pineapple knickerblocker¬†glory for pudding, a much better way to spend 3 syns i’d¬†say. it’s made with¬†sugar free¬†strawberry jelly, 2 tbsp low fat¬†custard, chopped pineapple chunks, 1 tbsp light aerosol cream and 1 tsp choc sauce.

Not feeling very well today with a cold so not only do I have no energy but really don’t feel like food today, well I don’t feel like healthy food I should say, I¬†so¬†feel like chocolate and crisps as I can’t taste anything else much.

The day went like this;

Breakfast was a strawberry Muller light greek style (0.5 syn) topped with some sliced strawberries and blueberries and a chocolate Alpen light bar to hit the sweet craving.

After a walk to the shops at lunchtime to stock up on tissues and paracetamol, I had some of the leftovers from last nights dinner, but to be honest I just picked at it but wolfed down the Boots shapers crispy bacon crisps (5 syns) which hit the spot a bit more.

A few snacks were eaten throughout the day, mainly fruit and lots of water and hot drinks too, and as I was poorly there was no working late and I was home by 6pm, which had its own problems, with dinner not going to be for a while, I found myself looking into the fridge for inspiration of some thing low syn to eat to fill the gap. So I topped a large mushroom with quark, garlic and herbs and a sprinkling of reduced fat cheese (hexa) and stuck it in the oven for 15 mins or so, it did the job.

Later on I had a meal of roasted duck, jasmine rice with a salad of cucumber, spring onion and cherry tomatoes on the vine and a splash of soy sauce.

After I had some balls of melon and a few raspberries and I also had a 2.5 syn ice lolly, well I am poorly (had I mentioned that!?)

Cakes, flapjacks and willpower!

Its going to be a quick¬†one tonight as it’s been a long old week and im so so tired my bed is calling me!

The day started with an early morning text from a work colleagues¬†that read “bacon butty?”, so after politely¬†declining¬†that, I decided to cook myself a breakfast¬†before i¬†left for work so had a quorn¬†sausage (1 syn), egg, tomato and some button mushrooms.

Arriving at work the “table” had a box of flapjacks on it and i¬†was instructed to help myself whilst having my morning cup of tea, again politely refused. I had some fruit salad instead.

At lunch the tradition of going to one of the local fast food places was in full swing so again i¬†said no thanks and stayed in the office by myself and ate my lunch I’d¬†brought with me, noodles, thai red curry paste (1 tsp –¬†1 syn) and some veggies.

Then all my work mates arrived back with an¬†arm full¬†of fresh cream cakes and i¬†have to admit, i¬†gave in at this point and had one… i¬†don’t even like¬†cream cakes! had a quick calculation on the syns¬†and it was about 10, so not to horrendous, but so not worth it for me!

Why is it some days are so hard ūüė¶

after working late again, hubby had cooked us a lovely dinner of steak and chips, with some big mushrooms, onion, salad and syn free peppercorn sauce. it was¬†just what i¬†fancied (i¬†fact i¬†very much fancied a glass of wine too¬†but didn’t have one!)

I was in the office stupidly early this morning, so there was no Pilates or breakfast before work today, I did take some fruit salad and a greek style Muller light (0.5 syns) with me though and had them at my desk with a lemon tea.

It’s been such a long day I can¬†bearly¬†remember what I had mid morning but I took a banana, apple and¬†satsuma with me and they’ve all gone so I’ve¬†eaten them, i tried to stick to lemon tea today rather than normal tea with milk which is a good job as you’ll see my snack later used up all my hexa for the day.

I was so busy and hungry I¬†forgot to take a photo of both my lunches, yes you read that right, both. First lunch was the chicken left over from last night with some salad, but that didn’t¬†fill me up very much so I then had a tomato mug shot (free) too.

I was hungry again¬†by the time I¬†got home and seeing as i hadn’t¬†had my hexb¬†yet I had a little snack of some rivita¬†mini’s with a chunk of cheese! it did the trick though and keep me going so I wasnt starving hungry for when i arrived at dinner.

It was the running club social tonight¬†(to cut a long story short – I’m¬†a member but I¬†don’t¬†ever go running!) at a local restaurant¬†and I’d¬†pre ordered the lamb shank, mash and seasonal¬†veg (seriously this was the best option on the menu, everything else was either deep-fried¬†or came with chips!) Obviously i¬†don’t know the actual syn value but i¬†have had a look in the food directory book and the Lamb shoulder with mash and veg at Weatherspoons¬†is 20 syns, so I’m¬†going to estimate¬†this is about the same…. good job I stuck to diet coke. But it was delicious, and it was good to catch up with everyone and i promised i would make an apperence at running club soon¬†also a lot of the evening was spent convincing me to sign up to a 7k run at the end of Arpil, which i’m seriously considering… watch this space!

After yesterdays wine syns and knowing I have some meals out coming up in the next few days, todays was all about damage limitation. So with this in mind, breakfast consisted of a superspeedy fruit salad of mango, strawberry and kiwi with a Muller light and hot water and lemon.

A busy day in the office today and I¬†managed to get through some snacks of a rocky road SW light hifi¬†bar, rivita¬†minis, satsuma and an apple. Also it being Monday again it was time for lunch time yoga and I even walked to the gym (ok it’s about¬†a five-minute¬†walk, but that’s¬†commitment when it’s as cold and rainy as it is today!)

I got back to the office and was so hungry I¬†completely forgot to take a photo of my lunch, but I¬†had made¬†a veg heavy tomato based pasta sauce¬†with a handful of wholemeal pasta shells mixed in. I also forgot to take the cheese i’d grated to sprinkle on the top, but wasnt going to let it go to waste and had it on my dinner instead. Which brings me nicely to the bean chilli, made from a tin of Sainsbury’s¬†mixed beans in mild chilli sauce (free) mixed with some chopped tomatoes, roasted red pepper (from a jar), frozen sweetcorn and I served¬†it¬†with some¬†wild rice.

the evening finished with a huge slice of pomelo and another early night, this time for sleep not for reading my book as going to sleep at 2am when you have to be up at 6am is never a good idea!

Well Sunday lunch actually, but the point is cooking and entertaining at home is one of my favorite past times, so we had some family over today and I wanted to not feel like a complete party pooper.

But first, breakfast, just some coffee, Muller light yogurt and half a pink grapefruit this morning then got on with some DIY around the house.

We cooked a roast chicken (superspeed!) with roasted new potatoes and lots of different veg, I also had a separate low syn gravy as everyone else had red wine in theirs.

For dessert¬†I’d¬†made an apple¬†and blackberry crumble with cream for everyone else, so I¬†did myself some stewed apple and berries with cinnamon and 1 tsp of sugar to sweeten (I could have used¬†sweetener¬†which would have been¬†free, but I’d¬†ran¬†out) I¬†measured out 200g¬†and had¬†it as my hexb, it was really yummy so might do that again another day.

The problem came when it came to the wine, I¬†only had two half¬†glasses but I¬†didn’t¬†measure them so I’m¬†going to have to estimate¬†10 syns¬†a glass. But I¬†really enjoyed every mouthful of them so I¬†feel it was a good use of syns, just need to be a bit careful the rest of the week now if I¬†want a loss this week, I¬†have 2 meals out¬†before weigh in¬†though so hopefully I¬†can enjoy them both without¬†doing too much damage… well¬†we’ll find out how that goes¬†later in the week.

After my guests had gone I¬†got on with a bit of¬†gardening (body magic for sure – it almost killed me!). Soon enough it was tea time, as we’d eaten lunch quite late I wasnt that hungry, but managed to eat the left over chicken and veg and a slice of pomelo to top me up and not go to bed hungry.

Oh and I went and did the Pilates DVD before bed too, am off for an early night now as I want to read my new book (well i got it for christmas actually but never get to bed early enough to read any of it!)

Had the day off today but as I had an appointment in town earlyish there was no time for a lie in. Breakfast was a short and sweet Muller light with a few blueberries and a cup of tea, I also took a banana and SW hifi light bar with me.

We were still in town at lunchtime so popped into Wetherspoon’s¬†for lunch. It was Tuesday so steak special day,¬†I had a 8oz¬†sirlon¬†with peas, mushrooms, tomato and I swapped the chips it came with for a jacket potato. I¬†didn’t order any of the sauces¬†but had two¬†sachet’s of ketchup (2 syns) instead. The deal included a drink and although i¬†was tempted by a glass of wine, i¬†stuck to pepsi instead, which¬†I can feel¬†happy about now ūüôā

After lunch we walked around town and¬†“accidentally” fell into the Thornton’s shop, (good job I didn’t have the wine!) I treated by self to just one¬†piece of chocolatey¬†fudge which worked out at 40 cals¬†so 2 syns – but it was totally¬†worth it!

We got home late afternoon and decided to¬†watch a film and have a few snacks, so made myself a plate of sliced pink dragon fruit, kiwi and strawberries and relaxed with a pot of¬†coffee. It seems¬†the lunch time steak didn’t¬†fill me up as much as I¬†thought it would have, so had a slice of wholemeal bread with some ham¬†and¬†1 x laughing cow extra light triangle.

As I was supposed to go to the cinema last night but it was cancelled due to the weather, I’d brought some candy floss (4 syns)¬†from Asda’s¬†the other day and it would be a shame for it to go to waste wouldn’t it!? this was swiftly followed by an ice lolly (2.5 syns)
