Week 9 weigh in and success express success

Was out of the office for work today so had to get up in the middle of the night (well it felt like it!) to get to the train station. So with no time for breakfast I packed up this little lot for the 3 hours each way train journey, along with a couple of cups of coffee with skimmed milk this kept me from getting hungry and raiding the trolley for kit Kat’s.

20130228-153114.jpg

lunch turned out to be not quite as good as i’d expected, i find it hard to find something for lunch in a city ive never been to before, i was looking for a m&s as i know i can get chicken and salad there for free but with 10 mins before my train left i had to make do with a tesco express at the station and at 3pm, there wasnt much choice left either but i thought i’d done ok with a chicken and noodle salad (would so be free if id have made it myself) but after just putting it through the syn calculator and it comes out at 5.5 syns, looking at the ingredients there is oil, sugar and cornflour so that will be why, however it was only 195 calories for the pack so not hourendous.

I also picked up a bottle of water and a muller light, but after discovering i didnt pick up a plastic spoon i took the yogurt home (after seriously considering drinking it out the pot … decided against it on a packed train!)

20130228-153101.jpg

So onto weigh in and to see the if success express was worth it… 3lbs off! so obviously i was over the moon with that, plus i also got my 1/2 stone award!

amazing!

As i found SE quite difficult to achieve at every meal, ever day im not going to do it every day this week, but as it seems to produce such good results, i’m going to try to so it for 3 days this week, which will be Tuesday, Wednesday and thursday, as i have a long weekend off work and will have at least one meal out so might not be able to do it on the other days this week.

On to tonight’s dinner which was a quickie meal which consisted of spraying a frying pan with fry light, salt and pepper and chucking in some halved pre cooked new potatoes, mushrooms, shallots, broccoli and a quorn fillet. I also made a sauce from chicken stock and quark to accompany it.

20130228-205824.jpg

I made use of the muller light seeing as i know had a spoon, i poured it on top of a chopped banana and topped with a drizzle of choc sauce, sort of like a banoffee pudding 🙂

choccy mouse and marshmellows – yum!

Had some things to do this morning before work so took my breakfast with me and ate it in the office when got to work. i took the photo before as i knew it would get mixed up in my bag and look a right old mess by the time i got round to eating it… and i was right. I used frozen tropical fruit that i defrosted overnight in the fridge along with fat free fromage frias and muesli.

20130227-122055.jpg

I had the lunch i took into work yesterday but didn’t eat due to the “breakfast box” incident. It was roasted veggies with egg, salad and 1 tbsp of helmans light salad dressing. i also had a side order of mini baby bell light.

20130227-160144.jpg

I picked up a limited addition Muller light turkish delight flavour to have afterwards, which was lovely and turned out to be free!

I stuck to my 4 mugs of tea today (which i work out to be just under 250ml of skimmed milk) but i did help myself to one of the celebrations chocolates from the chocolate table which are 2 syns each, im happy i stopped at one though as that’s the bit i usually find difficult.

Dinner tonight was vegetable paella with mushrooms, onions, peppers, peas, tomatoes, veg stock, smoked paprika, thyme and a sprinkling of paella rice as 1. i wanted to stick to the 2/3 superfree rule and 2. there was only a thimble full left in the packet! i chopped some parsley and squeezed a wedge of lemon over to serve.

20130227-203839.jpg

Later on in the evening i made a desert of fresh raspberries topped with sainsbury lighter chocolate mousse, fat free fromage frias sweetened with sweetener, 1 tbsp of aerosol cream, 12g of mini marshmallows, and 1 tsp of choc sauce. it was delicious but all those little syns add up and the lot was 7.5 syns, not to bad i suppose if you’ve not had many more during the rest of the day – think i will have it more as a now and again treat though.

a very slight slip off the waggon

After my good start to the day of the breakfast that’s fast becoming to norm, of strawberries, blueberries, banana, fat free yogurt and Dorset cereals muesli.

20130226-125015.jpg

i packed up my salad and the remainder of the veggy eggy delight of yesterdays dinner and with an apple and satsuma in my bag i was ready to head off to work. this is where things started to go a bit wrong. with the whole office getting a order ready mid morning to go to the breakfast van that is a permanent feature in our car park, and with the peer pressure upon me i caved and ordered myself a breakfast box, now i know it’s not a great choice of brunch however i did attempt to keep the syns to a minimum by not ordering the sausages or black pudding it came with and took the crusty white bread it came with home for hubby (i don’t let him buy loafs of white bread anymore as i’d eat the entire loaf!). So the backed beans and tomatoes should be free, the fried eggs are 0.5 syn each, so not to bad, the bacon however, i’ve worked roughly to be about 7.5 syns (thats for 100g, there was 3 slices?) i also removed the fat and didnt eat it but i think it had been cooked in fat so will count the whole 7.5 just to be on the safe side, the mushrooms which could have been free, but were were likely to be cooked in oil, again 100g work out at 7.5 syns, not sure how many grams i had but will count the whole 7.5 again. i also had to leave quite a bit of both as it was so filling.

20130226-125020.jpg

I will still so full i didnt have my lunch i’d taken with me but i did manage the apple and satsuma and during the afternoon.

I also had a mini baby bell after work.

For tonight’s dinner i meticulously cut every inch of fat off some lamb pieces (it didnt leave a lot of lamb!) and browned it off with some spices and mixed with some lamb stock and the rest of my paprika, chilli and tomato soup i made, which also contained carrots and onion. i added a hexb portion of dried apricots, sultanas and flaked almonds too then oven cooked it for 1.5 hours and served it with a small portion of cous cous.

20130226-210223.jpg

And as i’d had my syns for the day today, dessert was a syn-free platter of fruit.

Back to work

For todays first meal I had another fruity, yogurt, muesli topped bowl with a hot water and lemon to drink.

20130225-212300.jpg

And for lunch I ate the soup I’d made last night with two rivita (half a hex b) followed by a tropical fruit salad. i made the soup from canned chopped tomatoes, paprika, chilli, onion, carrot, veg stock and red lentils. Simmered on the job for half an hour then blended until smooth. It was really filling and I crumbled in the rivita as croutons which worked well.

20130225-212317.jpg

I was really busy today so only had 3 mugs of tea and a satsuma and apple as snacks. I even managed to say no to the freshly stocked chocolate table!

I was home from work on time so walked to the local shop to get some quark to add to tonight’s dinner and took a sw light hi fi bar with me for the walk.

I fried some red onion, garlic and rosemary in fry light in a frying pan then put them in an oven proof dish along with the left over roasted sweet potato, some red peppers from a jar, spinach, then poured in a few whisked eggs. Then I spooned on a few blobs of quark and popped it in the oven for twenty mins while I made a big salad to go with it.

20130225-212403.jpg

The white blob is some quark, fromage frias, garlic and fresh parsley as a sort of salad dressing, however i put so much garlic in it i didnt eat it in the end.

As I’d not had any syns today I made my new favourite of sugar free orange jelly topped with 2 tbsp’s of low fat custard, strawberries, kiwi, mango, fat free fromage frais, 1 tbsp of aerosol cream and 1 tsp of choc sauce.

running and sunday roasts

The 8.30am run was back on this week, so that was the first thing that was done today, we managed a respectable 3 miles and it made me remember i actually like running and must make an effort to do more of it.

Back home in the warmth and breakfast was the next thing on the agenda, as I’d enjoyed my cereal, yogurt and fruit the other morning i had something similar, but with some blueberries this time, along with banana, strawberries and a weight watchers citrus yogurt, and topped with 35g of Dorset cereals muesli (hexb) equally as nice and also fills me up a bit more than just my normal fruit and yogurt.

20130224-131133.jpg

I also used up the rest of the skimmed milk i had measured out, from the 350ml it made 6 mugs, so 58ml per mug, that will equal 4 mugs of tea when im at work as there is only semi skimmed milk there which the allowance is 250ml for a hexa.

Lunch time came around quickly and i was at home so had the last of the jacket potatoes i’d baked in the oven the other night, reheated with 57g low low cheese spread (hexa) some chives and a big salad.

20130224-131145.jpg

a few snacks were eaten during the afternoon along with a few mugs of tea there was a sw light hi fi bar, a satsuma and a hexb allowance of dried prunes – that them finished now. that’s the only thing with these things, once there opened they have a short shelf life so you end up eating them every day so as not to throw them out. i can see im going to be eating this muesli for a while now the box is open.

20130224-144326.jpg

And as its sunday and its cold outside and there’s the thought of getting up and going to work in it tomorrow, nothing makes a sunday evening more enjoyable than a sunday roast. Hubby did me proud with this little lot (i also think he’s enjoying me having lots of veg on my plate which doesnt leave much room for meat and potatoes … his favorite bits!). So i had 1/3 of my plate with pork with the fat removed and sweet potato and potatoes roasted in fry light and 2/3 of my plate, carrots, shallots, broccoli and mange tout and green beans. i also had a low syn gravy with 1 level tsp of cornflour in it for 1 syn.

20130224-194909.jpg

i had to eat this in two sittings as it was so big, i need to tackle that next, my hubby serves up huge portion sizes and i eat it because it’s there and I’ll carry on eating long past I’m full too.

So after being so full it was a while before i fancied something sweet to finish, i was planning on another knicker blocker glory but just can’t manage it tonight but i could manage a couple of spoon full of sugar free jelly for half a syn and a marshmallow for 1.5 syns.

3 mile run

snow, mud, but no cheese

I was up way to early for a saturday this morning, for some reason i work up at 6am, actually the reason was hubby leaving all the lights on when he got up to watch the flippin cricket! Anyway as i was awake i decided to get up and join him (i didn’t actually watch the cricket though, but i did manage to get through a good chunk of my book) whilst drinking lots of freshly made coffee. I measured out 350ml of skimmed milk into a separate bottle in the fridge and am going to count the number of drinks i get out of it so i can calculate more accurately than i have been doing.

I also thought I’d best have some breakfast before i went out so had some bacon, egg and mushrooms, i know my 3rd is the wrong way around, it’s hard to do!

20130223-154105.jpg

you can tell my husband made it… 0/10 for presentation!

Being up so early has its plus points and that was getting out and around to all the places I needed to go this morning and home by 11am with the whole of the rest of the day to play with.

As i was unusually home at lunch time, i made the most of free food by having a jacket potato with the rest of the ratatouille, some salad and 30g cheese followed by a mug of tea.

20130223-154113.jpg

With an entire afternoon to do whatever i wanted to do i thought I’d take this opportunity to do something I’ve been saying i must do for a while but never get around to actually doing it, which is to walk up to the top of Coopers Hill (that’s the cheese rolling hill in Gloucester) so off we went with only an iPhone app for guidance… and couldnt even find the car park! so after driving around for a while we found somewhere to abandon the car and just randomly walked in an upwards direction, which luckily joined a marked footpath so we followed that to the top and after admiring the views and realising I’d forgotten to bring my mini baby bell (but had a apple and satsuma instead), we made our way back down, after all the rain it was very muddy under foot and also snowing high up too so we were glad to get back in the car and home to get warm with yet more tea and a rocky road hifi light bar.

I also had an afternoon snack of some prunes, strawberries, blueberries and another hifi light bar.

20130223-173521.jpg

This evenings meal was eaten fairly early (for me) as I’m off to the Cinema tonight, i had some lean pork steaks strips with Chinese 5 spice and soy sauce, mixed vegetables stir fired with garlic, ginger and lemongrass and some Tilda Lime and coriander rice (1/2 pack 1 syn)

20130223-191433.jpg

And as i like the novelty of someone bringing me an alcoholic drink in the cinema i am planning on having a gin and slimline tonic for 4 syns and I’m taking 3 syns worth of marshmallows with me to nibble on whilst i watch the film.

The walk we were supposed to do was 5.7 miles but i think the one we did was less, maybe 3 ish

Week 8 weigh in

As I’d not used my hexb yesterday and have been forgetting about using it, today i had some rivita for breakfast as you can have 4 original as a hexb. i had 2 with some low low cheddar and black pepper spread on, plus some more pale and flavorless watermelon and the last greek style yogurt (0.5 syn)

20130221-200716.jpg

I made the mid- morning round of tea for us all in the office and one of my colleagues had brought in some breakaway bars, they are 5 syns each so i felt it was worth it even though they are tiny it was a nice little chocolate fix.

20130221-200730.jpg

I didn’t take a pic of my lunch as it was the same as i had last night, the quorn cottage pie (well actually i forgot until i was half way through eating it).

I nipped out to the shops at lunch time (in the car :/ ) as i knew i might not get through the afternoon without getting hungry and as there are quite a few vending machines in our building, i don’t want to risk it, there is nothing remotely healthy in any of them! so i got some semi dried prunes, 80g of these are a hexb, but as i’d already had half of todays allowance on the rivita i just had 40g (i guessed at about 5 prunes as didn’t happen to have any scales on me at work and didn’t have time to count them out to work it out) i also had a banana an afternoon cuppa.

20130221-200723.jpg

So onto weigh in, – 0.5 lbs , which i was slightly disappointed with as i was aiming to lose the 1.5lb i put on last week, annoying that it was so easy to put on that amount in one week but so difficult to lose the same amount again. Am going to try a superspeed week this week as really need to kick-start this weight loss.

With weigh in out the way and a massive shopping trip done, it was home to cook tonight’s meal, it was late ish and i had lots to do this evening so needed something without too much faffing, we ended up having pasta, with mushrooms, bacon with the fat cut off, broccoli  and the rest of the a tub of low low cheddar mixed through.

looks like spring is on it’s way

My energy serge of yesterday had passed and normal service was resumed today, therefore brekkie was eaten on the sofa whilst watching tv. I had a watermelon hiding in the 2nd fridge (ie the garage – especially at this time of year) although i don’t think it was ripe yet as was very pale and tasteless, not impressed. i also had a Muller light greek style, there is only one left so will have to pick something up at the next shopping trip.

20130220-202840.jpg

As no one had done much shopping, lunch was what was left in the salad drawer chopped up and a cheesy mug shot with some fresh broccoli added, i’d not tried this flavour before and i dont really think it was worth the 3 syns it cost me, i prefer the tomato flavour and they are free. but it was nice to have a change i suppose

20130220-202849.jpg

I  only had an apple to take with me for a snack today so had to drink lots of tea and squash to keep me from getting hungry, well i don’t actually get hungry i just get bored and look for things to occupy my hands with which is usually food.

As i left work on time it was surprising light when i got home so i went for a walk to the local shops to get a few things and it was so nice to be out in the evening in the day light… must mean spring is on its way, which can’t come soon enough as far as im concerned as its so much easier to want to get our running, cycling or walking in the light and warmth.

I also tried for the first time quorn mince and made a cottage pie from the quorn website, it was really nice and i adjusted the recipe to be syn free and added a few extra veggies to help with the 1/3 superfree. Also as my hubby doesnt wat quorn or mash i have loads of it left over, thats lunch sorted for tomorrow and another meal too.

20130220-202855.jpg

that’s whats left, not what i ate tonight!

As i’d only had 3.5 syns today and also my mum had been over and made me some jelly (thanks mum!) i made strawberry and pineapple knickerblocker glory for pudding, a much better way to spend 3 syns i’d say. it’s made with sugar free strawberry jelly, 2 tbsp low fat custard, chopped pineapple chunks, 1 tbsp light aerosol cream and 1 tsp choc sauce.

walk to the shops and back (about half a mile each way)

so thats what the inside of the gym looks like

I don’t know what came over me this morning but i was up, out and at the gym before it even got light! i even parked at work and walked to the gym and back ( only 5 mins each way, but still!) so after my 45 mins on the treadmill and weights it was a slight rush to get back to work, showered changed and breakfast eaten all before 8:30am! As this is the first time I’ve been in the gym for 5 months, this works out to a very expensive 45 mins!

This was my breakfast i took to work with me and had a my desk

20130219-201236.jpg

I had another mug of builders tea and a banana mid morning and then it was onto lunch, which was a jacket potato (i batch cooked a few of them the other night) with a light baby bell (part hexa) and some chopped ham with a salad on the side.

20130219-201230.jpg

I must have been feeling extra energetic today, or it might have been something to do with the sun being out, but i also had a walk to the shops and back at lunch time too.

i was in meetings all afternoon so no opportunity to snack, i did have a can of diet Pepsi and a take away Americano with skimmed milk though.

However this meant i was starving (well, pekkish) by the time i got home from work, we don’t tend to eat our evening meal until 8 – 8:30pm and there was no way i could wait that long therefore I made myself a wholemeal roll with light marg and Marmite to fill the gap.

This evenings meal was gammon, egg, pineapple, sw chips with mushrooms and onions stir fried in red wine vinegar. the only bit that might not have been free is the fresh pineapple slice as it was grilled? can’t find anything online to clarify this, but as it was only one slice I’m not to worried about it, will find out at group on Thursday so i know for next time.

20130219-201223.jpg

And as the pineapple had been “opened” i had a few more chunks of it later on, with some fat-free fromage frais, passion fruit and a squirt of low-fat aerosol cream (1 syn) and half a meringue nest (1.5 syns)

cauliflower pizza

The day started with a light (if not slightly dull?) breakfast of a banana and a yogurt with hot water and lemon to drink.

20130218-200117.jpg

Still trying to take it easy mid morning called for a little treat of special k chewy delight bar (hexb) and a cuppa made with a drop of semi skimmed milk (i like builders tea!)

20130218-200133.jpg

The morning whizzed by and before i knew it was lunch time, no lunch-time yoga today, instead i had my lunch at my desk and worked though (would have much prefered yoga!) we’d cooked a whole chicken yesterday with some lemon and thyme so had made myself a chicken salad with 1 tbsp of helmans light thousand island dressing, there was also some left over roasted sweet potato which works really well cold in salad.

20130218-200140.jpg

So onto tonight’s dinner of cauliflower pizza, I’d been wanting to try this for a while now so after failing to convince hubby to try it (too weird apparently) he had fish (yuck!) and i made this. you make it by steaming some fresh cauliflower in the microwave then adding mozzarella cheese, egg, garlic, herbs mixing it together, making into a pizza shape on a baking tray and popping in a hot oven for 25 mins , you then put the topping on, i used passata, ham, mushrooms and tomato and the rest of the cheese then grilled until golden and served with a salad.

20130218-200146.jpg

it was edible but a little soggy, i think if i tried it again i would use pre grated mozzarella cheese as its not as wet, but it was nice to try something different.

After the effort of making and clearing up after this (honestly, there was cauliflower everywhere!) i treated myself to a sainsbury’s sprinkle top ice lolly for 2.5 syns and as i was doing a green day today i used my other hexb on some semi dried apricots and relaxed for the rest of the evening.
